Did you know that there are Shine Employee Wellness Centres at King West, JHCC, MUMC, SPH and HGH for all HHS staff, physicians and volunteers? 

*New online orientations can be completed any time by clicking here and following a few easy steps. 

*Important Note* If you would like 24/7 badge access to any of the Shine Employee Wellness Centres, please do not go to the Security Office yourself to make the request. All access requests must go through Melissa, the Wellness Coordinator. This is meant to streamline the process and ensure that everyone has completed the necessary paperwork. If you would like access, please head to the
"Get Access" page to get started. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!

Shine Lunch and Learn Series (June): Let's Talk Cannabis!

Marijuana? Weed? Pot? Vaping? Do you have questions about the upcoming legalization of cannabis?

This lunch and learn will help you increase your knowledge on the legalization of recreational cannabis in Ontario from a public health perspective.

Melissa will cover everything from the ways it’s consumed, health effects, problematic use, and prevention / harm reduction strategies with youth and young adults.

If you like massages and could use a relaxing break, then you are in for a treat! We are pleased to offer FREE 15 minute table massages to interested HHS staff. Find out when a clinic is coming to your site and be sure to get your spot. Sign up sheets will be posted at your site approximately two weeks prior to each clinic date. Green Shield Canada’s (GSC) Dietitian Health Coaching Program Now Available to HHS Plan Members! 

Effective March 1, 2017, all employees and eligible dependents of HHS who are enrolled in the Extended Health Care (EHC) benefit plan with GSC will have access to health coaching with a registered dietitian, to a maximum of $200. The program is available at participating Loblaws or Sobeys locations, including the Sobeys located at 977 Golf Links Rd. in Ancaster.

Eating sensibly can be very challenging at times. If you feel that you could make healthier food choices, but aren’t quite sure where to start, this program can help! For more information on how the program works, please click here to view Green Shield’s communication.

What is chat?

  • Chat is confidential and easy to use. The service enables clients to communicate with a program consultant using a computer in an online, typed and instant conversation that takes place securely over your program website
  • Users can type questions into the chat window related to specific services available through the program, or inquire about educational materials or resources they may be seeking.
  • Consultants trained in all aspects of our service will respond to all chat requests; these are the same professionals who respond to calls to our toll-free number.
  • All chat users and their dependants must be at least 16 years of age.
